Hi everyone! It is a great honour for me to share my
simple but wonderful experience with you guys. As a nurse, Nurses’
Day celebration has been a part of me since 1998, when I first
started my journey as a nursing student.
I have always enjoyed celebrating this day as this is my
day… a very special day of appreciation on my tide and tithes of
been called “Nurse”. Nursing is my 2nd
love, a love which I gained from my patients' smiles and thanks.
This year – 2014, I celebrated my Nurses’ Day with
Vision College's students and colleagues. It has been a great
experience especially for the students to understand the real meaning
of nursing.
What is Nurses’ Day?
Theme for 2014:
International
Nurses Day is celebrated around the world every May 12, the
anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth. The IND theme for 2014
is: Nurses: A Force for Change – A vital resource for health.
The Origins and History of Nurses Day
Even though National Nurses' Day was first planned in 1953, it was not, until
1974 that things actually worked out, when the International
Council of Nurses stated publicly May 12 as International Nurse
Day.
The reason that
Nurses' Day is observed on the 12th May every year is for the reason
that it is the birth date of Florence Nightingale. She made many improvements to
nursing and health care and radically cut the death rate amid
soldiers in the Crimean War as a consequence of her hard work,
devotion and tuition of fellow nurses.
Lastly, “Happy
Nurses’ Day” to all student nurses and staffs in Vision College
as well as all nurses out there. Know that you are a very special
creation of God. Bye...
