Becoming A Good Tutor

With the title that so straight forward, I think most people could have guessed what I am going to share today. Before I start, I have to introduce myself in this blog and it feels so awkward. It feels like you are talking to a mirror.

I am Aisyah, a newbie tutor in our department, Department of Ultrasound. I just started joining this department in January this year but before that, I already worked with Vision College starting from March 2013. So, I already shed my blood, sweat and tears with Vision College for 1 year *congratulate myself

A newbie means that I am lacking skills and still on a journey of becoming a good tutor. So, I am going to share 10 golden rules to become a good tutor.

1. Be honest
2. Be flexible
3. Be patient
4. Be a good listener
5. Be professional
6. Willing to share your own experiences
7. Be a collaborator
8. Teach the student how to learn
9. Be confident
10. Use available resources

Most of people already know this, but the difference is “Are they applying it?”

Challenges that we are facing as tutors nowadays are tough and it reminds me of a video showing how a mother teaches her daughter. It is not related to this topic but it has something that we can learn.

Lastly, people always said that “learning is a continuous process” but for me teaching is also a continuous process.

My Working Life

This has been the sixth month since I start working as an Admission Counselor at Vision. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my Director and my colleagues for their generous helps and advises. Thank you! Xoxo.
Anyway, if you are curious (or even if you are not curious) about my working life, the following pictures will tell you something about my work.

At Kolej Vokasional Klang
At SMK Vivekananda
Vision Health Careers Camp
Ps: Thank you for your help (you know who you are) during the camp and for the participants, I wish you all the best in your future!

It looks fun right? But, for most of the time, I am sitting in front of my laptop (for work) and meeting students and their parents :)

These are all for now. So, see you next time!
