Ernst And Vision College

Hi guys, My name is Ernst Gan. A lot of people hardly recognized my English name as "Ernst" but "Ernest". Probably Asians are more familiar with names like Michael, Jason, Howard but not my bizarre name. Nahh... Just saying. Due to that, I always have to introduce "Ernst & Young" Company, one of the big-four audit firm, so that people will know where the "Ernst" came from. Worst comes to worst, I would only end with "Just call me Gan" as an introductory statement.

Starting a career pathway always a challenging task for every fresh graduates. As a toddler in the society, we tend to observe our surrounding, "talk" to the surrounding and eventually, we "surrender" to a firm.

I once was an employee of a well known firm. Entertainment is their strong business nature, until I decided to came down to Kuala Lumpur to seek new challenges and exposures. Until one day, Mr Hoh called me to attend an interview. It was a very sudden decision but I know that I am willing to do this, which is to grow with Vision.

Thanks to my director for a great treatment. How about massageee one day? Hehe. P/S: One of my activities that trigger a lot of haters is the 21st Century phenomena, food photography. Please don't hate me.

Working with marketing team is a lot of fun. I first met Brandon, and he was my senior in the section.

Look at how my Boss presenting a powerful speech to all the ladies & gentlemen up there! Yes, you can!

He professionally greeted me & brought me to my new working area. I started joining a school fair only few days after my employment. To be frank, I am kind of nervous in this particular school fair as I hardly can confidently tell the student on our courses offered. Knowing product knowledge of your company is the key, important thing before presenting ourselves. I learnt my lesson. Day by day, things get better as my director started letting me go to roadshows on my own. An interesting fact about my job is that I am not only telling available courses here at Vision, but I also managed to give a clear picture to students on their future career pathways.

Key to success is failure. That is how we succeed! Seriously.

Working with Vision is way too different compared with my previous employment. Everyone is treated like brothers & sisters. One of the advantages is that everyone is allowed to voice out their opinions without stressing out our differences. However, we still respect The Boss though. yeah...

Allow me to introduce Vision College,

Mammogram

I joined Vision College on June 2013. One of the new experiences I gained here is doing Mammogram. Mammogram is an x-ray image of the breast to detect any abnormality of the breast. However, it is exclusively limited to women aged 40 years old and above. It is because younger women have dense breasts.

It is suggested for patients to make appointments for the examination, preferably after the menstrual period. The patient is not allowed to wear deodorant or talcum powder because this will cause artifact to the image. However, the patient is allowed to wear  a 2-piece attire.

Mammogram can be uncomfortable due to compression to the breast. The breast need to be compressed to produce a uniform brightness of the image. This is where the patient feels pain. In addition, it has to be done twice, on each breast! However, the compression lasted only for a few seconds. So the patient just need to be calm and relaxed.

This is how the breast is compressed

Each examination requires four images, two different views for each breast. I usually start with right breast continue with left breast alternately. This is a systematic technique that apply to all basic mammographic examination. This examination usually takes about 15-30 minutes.

Later, all four images will be reported by Radiologist. Any abnormality can be categorized into 5 categories according to BIRADS. However, further examinations such as biopsy are required to determine benign or cancerous lesion.

Appearance of the abnormalities
As time goes by, I am gaining valuable experiences doing mammogram. It is a skill that not only to be learnt from books, but through hands-on experience as well.
